Welcome From Our President

Hello and welcome to the 2023 – 2024 League year!  I am excited to serve as your President and have been working hard with the Leadership Board in planning events for the up-and-coming year.

This will be a very important year for us as we will all be celebrating an important milestone, our 100-year anniversary.  This is a very meaningful anniversary for me as I love supporting my community, as I have been part of the Junior League for over 20 years.  I first started my league career in the Junior League of San Jose in California, where I worked with the Salvation Army, and it was a great joy to be able to provide meals for families during the holidays.  To this day, I can still see the happiness in the faces and spark in the eyes of the people whose holidays were made more cheerful due to this event.  Here, I got to see firsthand the direct impact my work made within the community.  A few years after San Jose, I joined the Junior League of Chicago, as I was making a professional move to the Windy City.  I then took an internal position where it taught me a lot about the inter-workings of a large non-profit, how to work effectively with other people and helped me form bonds with amazing ladies around Chicago. All these experiences have not only enriched my life but shaped me to be the person I am today. This latest step in my Junior League career has taken me to the Junior League of Evanston–North Shore and I am tremendously grateful to be named President and to be working alongside so many amazing women on the Leadership Board this year.

This year, I would like to focus on celebrating our history, working with our community partners on volunteer opportunities, as well as giving back to others through our Grants and Scholarships programs. I am excited to share a few of the events we have planned for the upcoming year:

  • October History Crawl where we will tour historic sites of the JLE-NS
  • November shopping event at our 80+ year-old Thrift Store
  • January Holiday Heroes event
  • February Trivia Night fundraiser at the Wilmette Harbor Club
  • April Baby Steps Baby Shower
  • May End-of-year Gala
  • And many, many more throughout the year

As you can see, our committee members have been working very hard and we have a full agenda.  In this 100th anniversary, let’s all do justice to the spirit and tradition of our amazing organization and all join in to contribute to the community and of course have fun together. I look forward to working with you all to make this a meaningful and memorable League year for everyone!

Sincerely,

Jennipher Tejano
