JLE-NS Pampering Packages for Glenbook Hospital ICU Staff (August)

It was brought to the COVID-19 Task Forces’ attention that the Staff at the ICU at Glenbrook Hospital was in need of some pampering!  A Task Force member donated, assembled and delivered 30 Pampering Packages, which included masks and lotion for the staff to give themselves a well-deserved break.

JLE-NS Food Pantry Drive (June/July/August)

During the summer months, JLE-NS members raised the awareness of the needs of our local Food Pantries and contributed a total of $1,200 in donations and goods for numerous Food Pantries in our service area.  Food pantries in our area depend on the generosity of the community, even more so during this pandemic as needs increase. This is an effort that can keep going…please consider donating or buying an extra bag of groceries to donate to a local food pantry to assist those in need.

JLE-NS Provided Meals for Glenbrook NorthShore Hospital Staff (5/18/20)

Glenbrook NorthShore Hospital was converted into a COVID-19 only facility on April 1st. The day-to-day healthcare work has taken a toll on the staff. In response to a JLE-NS member’s first-hand knowledge of Glenbrook Hospital’s staff’s need for encouragement, the Junior League of Evanston-North Shore tapped their Community Fund to provide 25 lunches for Glenbrook’s hospital staff that was rotating between departments for their next shift on May 18th.

Cards, Drawings and Letters for Clearbrook Group Homes (5/12/20-5/16/20)

The Junior League of Evanston-North Shore members, members’ families, plus children and adults from the community created over 100 cards, drawings and letters for Clearbrook Group homes and delivered them to their Arlington Heights location on 5/16/20. We accomplished this both, independently and, while social distancing, during an hour-long Zoom call on 5/14/20. This project was requested by Clearbrook’s Community Integrated Living Arrangement (CILA) program to brighten the spirits of their group home residents while they are self-quarantining.

COVID-19 Matching Fund Campaign for Purses with a Purpose Program Shelters (4/25/20-5/5/20)

The Junior League of Evanston-North Shore is pleased to announce the successful results of our COVID-19 matching fund campaign that ran from April 25 through Giving Tuesday (May 5th). We collected $2,500 in donations and are matching $2,500 and have decided to donate an additional $2,500, bringing our total funds raised to $7,500. Each of the shelters in our Purses with a Purpose program will receive $1,500, which include: A Safe Place/Lake County Crisis Center, WINGS Program, Inc., Howard Area Community Center, Sarah’s Circle and The Staben House.

Your donations helped these shelters to assist domestic violence victims, provide a home for adults and children, provide family stabilization, provide clinical and social services, and much more at a time when domestic violence calls have doubled during the COVID-19 crisis.

We could not have done this without the generosity of our donors. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts and are proud and humbled by how you helped us to respond together to double the impact!
