Baby Steps

Their future, and more importantly, that of their unborn child, is at risk given their lack of access to critical education and essential items to support a newborn child.

The 2022-23 Junior League of Evanston-North Shore (JLE-NS) New Member Class hosted the 11th annual Baby Steps shower, an event that positively impacted the lives of 15 underprivileged families and their newborn babies. In April 2023, through our partnership with the social workers at North Shore University Health System’s Perinatal Family Support Center, the New Member Class showered each new mother with items essential for newborns and deliver educational presentations on several key topics, including post-partum depression, lactation, and feeding essentials. The goal was to raise funds to provide each mother with items including car seats, strollers, bathtubs, diapers, wipes and many more to ease the costs associated with a newborn baby.
