Valerie Rowlands – President-Elect

Karen Burchell – Marketing & PR Chair

Karen joined the Junior League of Evanston-North Shore in 2007 and led Marketing and PR for her New Member class project, Kids in the Kitchen High Five Health Fair, held in partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lake County, IL and Oak Terrace Elementary School in Highwood, IL. She was also Co-Chair of the American Girl Fashion Show Fundraiser, as well as Placement and Transfer Chair. Karen has also served on the Nominating and Placement committee during various years and was also the Personnel Director for multiple years. She has also served as Member at Large and Membership Director. Karen was awarded the Founder’s Award in 2020 for her leadership in promoting the League’s COVID-19 efforts as PR & Marketing Chair and as a member of the COVID-19 Task Force and also received the Founder’s Award in 2022 for her work as Marketing & PR Chair. Her professional background is in Advertising and Marketing, as well as Social Media Marketing and Digital Engagement. Karen was also highly involved as a member of the Ad Hoc Community Grants committee, where she helped to analyze, select, award, and promote the League’s efforts in awarding grants to local non-profit organizations that were especially impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. She also serves on the Thrift House Board of Directors.

Tiffany Lum – Recruiting Chair

As a member of the Junior League of Evanston-North Shore, Tiffany brings with her a rich history of service and personal growth. Having initially joined the Junior League movement seven years ago with the Junior League of Dallas, she embarked on this journey with a deep-seated desire to serve her community, develop invaluable board serving skills, and forge connections with like-minded, inspiring women. Before transitioning to sustainer status, Tiffany contributed her skills and passion as part of the communications committee, enhancing outreach efforts. In 2022, she transferred to JLE-NS and assumed the role of membership co-chair for the 2023 League year, eager to continue making a meaningful impact alongside the remarkable women of this league. Throughout her journey, Tiffany has primarily dedicated her time and energy to working within the community, with a special commitment to the Genesis Women’s Shelter. Her dedication to service and personal growth remains unwavering, and she is excited to continue this fulfilling journey with JLE-NS.

Olivia Kubik – New Member Co-Chair

Olivia joined the Junior League of Evanston-North Shore in 2022 and prior to that was a member of the Junior League of Austin (TX). Her first year in the JLE-NS was spent chairing Trivia Night. She has lived on the North Shore for a bit over a year now and enjoys exploring with her husband and son.

Allison Marks-Coulter – New Member Co-Chair

Allison joined the Junior League of Evanston-North Shore in 2022. During her first year, she helped organize the league’s Trivia Night fundraising event and hosted a Baby Steps shower for pregnant women in need with her fellow new member class. Allison looks forward to her current role as a Co-Chair of the New Member class; she can’t wait to help new members discover the camaraderie and community impact of the JLE-NS! Outside of the league, Allison serves as Senior Counsel at AbbVie Inc., where her primary practice has been global support for clinical research and development. She advises clients on matters related to data privacy, informed consent, digital health and fraud and abuse and she negotiates complex research transactions with suppliers, consortiums and collaborative partners. She loves shopping, interior design and gardening. Allison lives in Winnetka with her husband and her new golden retriever puppy, Beaumont.

Jennifer Luczkowiak- Scholarships & Grants Chair

Jennifer has been a member of the Junior League of Evanston-North Shore since 2011. She has served in various leadership positions, including Kitchen Tour Chair, New Member Recruitment Chair, Membership Director, and now as Scholarships and Grants Chair. In her work life, she is an attorney and Director of Resource Development at Prairie State Legal Services (PSLS). PSLS provides free civil legal services to vulnerable populations throughout 36 counties in northern and central Illinois. In her role, Ms. Luczkowiak participates in the executive management of PSLS’s programs. Specifically, she oversees all resource procurement for PSLS’s $20M budget. This includes overseeing grant acquisition, grant management, and fundraising efforts from federal, state, and local governments, United Ways, foundations, and individual and corporate donors. Previously, Ms. Luczkowiak served as Project Director of the Legal Help for Homeowners Project at PSLS, which provided legal counsel and representation for homeowners and tenants facing foreclosure. Before arriving at PSLS, Ms. Luczkowiak worked for the Law Foundation of Silicon Valley serving homeless and runaway youth as an Equal Justice Works Fellow and Staff Attorney. She received her B.A. from Northwestern University and her J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law (now University of California College of the Law, San Francisco). Ms. Luczkowiak lives in Highland Park with her husband, two sons, and daughter.

Stephanie Spindler – Social Chair

Melissa Twyman – Trivia Night Chair

Melissa joined the Junior League of Evanston-North Shore during the 2022-2023 League year.  She co-chaired her New Member class project, Baby Steps, and served on the Trivia Night and Social Committees. Melissa was awarded the Founder’s Award for her leadership on Baby Steps, as well as fostering a community partnership with Pure Barre Evanston for their participation in the Purses with A Purpose donation drive. For the 2023-2024 League year, Melissa is the Co-Chair for Trivia Night and serves on the Social committee again.

Beth Mikel – Fundraising & Dues Treasurer

Beth joined the Junior League of Evanston-North Shore in 1981. Her first placement was on the committee that set up requirements for the Provisional (New Member) classes. The next couple years Beth was a member of the Finance Committee. In 1987, she became the Finance Director, which was also the year that An Architectural Album: Chicago’s North Shore was published for the first time. Beth also served as Book Treasurer for both editions of the book and she was also the Treasurer for The American Girl Fashion Show fundraisers, the JLE-NS cookbook, It’s a Shore Thing, and Designer Kitchens of the North Shore – Kitchen Tour event and most recently Trivia Night.
